Ring Carving 101: Design & Create Your Own Silver Ring
Description
In this small, hands-on workshop, you’ll design and carve a ring in wax, then have it professionally cast in solid sterling silver after class.
The class is open to complete beginners and anyone feeling jewelry-curious. No prior experience required.
Over three relaxed, focused hours, you’ll learn the foundations of wax carving while shaping a ring that reflects your own sense of form and style. We’ll move slowly, with plenty of individual guidance, so you can experiment, ask questions, and enjoy the process.
You’ll learn
• How to design and shape a comfortable, wearable ring
• Core wax-carving techniques: cutting, filing, smoothing, refining
• How jewelers think about proportion, balance, comfort, and longevity
You’ll leave with
• Your finished wax ring ready for casting
• A deeper understanding of how fine jewelry is made
• A sterling silver version of your ring, cast and polished after class and shipped to you within about three weeks
All tools, materials, and wax are provided.
Class size is intentionally small to allow for thoughtful instruction and one-on-one support.

What is Lost Wax Casting
The ancient technique of lost wax casting has been utilized for millennia to produce jewelry and other metallic artifacts. First, a mold made of sand or plaster is carefully poured over the wax model. Then, the wax is melted away, leaving a void in the mold. Finally, molten metal is poured into the mold, creating a perfect metal replica of the original wax carving.
